Home Sweet Home

Hi everyone,

Well, for the past few days I have been enjoying being back in the United States. I flew from Accra to JFK which took about 12 hours on a straight flight. Unfortunately, on the Delta flight that I was on, we also didn't have our own little personal televisions on the seat in front of me I have become so spoiled and accustomed to. There was a movie screen in the front area playing a few different films for everyone (3 or 4 I believe). None of them were very good and I think I had already seen a few of them. Basically, it was a very very long boring flight. I did arrive safely in JFK. When I got off the plane I made my way out of the airport to the subway to go and meet a few friends of mine that live in New York City. I didn't have any warm clothes because all of them are still in Amsterdam (I moved to Ghana directly from being on vacation in Arizona, leaving much of my stuff sitting in storage in Amsterdam).

When I got to NYC it was evening, and freezing. I flew in in the only pair of sandals I have, a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I only had to make it to the station where my girlfriends were to be waiting with me with a coat and warmer clothes. I made my way to the Airtrain and had directions to Manhattan. I was waiting outside for about 10 minutes when a woman approached me and commented on the quite obvious fact that I was not wearing a coat. I let her know I had just flown in from Africa to which she informed me that she had just arrived from Puerto Rico and she had a coat. Then she looked down and noticed I was wearing sandals and proceeded to continue her lecture to me about wearing the necessary clothing for NY. As if I was not aware that a coat would be good for cold weather. I made it to Manhattan without too much difficulty but it did take about two hours. I got to see friends I haven't seen in a year or two for dinner and did a bit of walking around the city the next day before having to catch my flight back. I barely made my flight on the way back due to a bit of trouble with the subway station and then was told that my flight was oversold and they wanted me to stay in NYC and get on the next flight if they bought my ticket... I declined and barely made the flight as they were boarding the last group.

The flight was completely full and I was stuck in the middle seat in a chair that wouldn't recline.... it was a long trip to Arizona with little comfort. Lucky for me my best friend had my favorite thai food waiting for me at the airport when he picked me up, which honestly was more than I could have asked for. I've spent the past few days running a bit saying hi to a few friends and family and am now in my hometown of Lake Havasu to have Christmas with one side of my family tomorrow afternoon. The weather in Az is about 70-75F and sunny, it's been beautiful, though I was hoping for a bit cooler weather. I have already had some delicious food and sangria and am throughly enjoying being back with good friends and family......

Will update more soon.... with pictures.

Love to all.
