US Embassy in Accra

Hi everyone,

I know it has been a REALLY long time since I have taken the time to update all of you. Sorry about that. We have been busy getting Kirsty into the swing of things here at ProWorld Ghana and I have been busy preparing to move to Accra. I was offered and accepted a job at the American embassy in Accra. I of course do not work under the state department, but will be under the American Embassy Association, which is actually an NGO, though not in the typical sense. They are responsible for taking care of all of the needs of the American embassy community here in Ghana (morale, supplies, etc). I will be working in a managerial position for them responsible for their warehouses, commissary, restaurant inside the embassy grounds, etc... It is a big move from the kind of work I do now, but I could not turn down the opportunity. So starting this coming Saturday on May 1, I will begin working with them. This of course also means that I am moving to Accra this week, which is the capital of Ghana for those of you not so familiar with the cities here. It is about 3 hours from the city I live in currently and is much larger than Cape Coast. There are a lot more restaurants, options, and things to do so it should be a nice change of pace.

Kirsty is going to be taking over my position as director of ProWorld in Ghana and she has been doing a great job so far, I know she won't have any trouble. She has gotten in a good six weeks of training and she is also a former volunteer so she is quite comfortable with how we operate.

That's really all the news from here, although it is big news! I am looking for a kitten which is a lot harder to find in Ghana than you would think! I hope everyone is doing well, sending lots of love from Ghana.

So how long are you going to end up staying in Ghana at this point, do you know?
