I do apologize for the long absence, but as you will see from this post, there has been A LOT going on.
As you know, I went home to Arizona for Christmas. I spent the first few days in Lake Havasu City visiting one part of my family and celebrating Christmas with them a bit early as well as my best friend's family who got me a gorgeous locket that holds four pictures inside. They even put the pictures in for me which is awesome because I hear it took some time consuming photo shopping. I then went back down to the Phoenix area to see the rest of my family and friends. Unfortunately, throughout all of this (and really it started over a month ago) my back has been having some serious pain issues. I had gone to doctors here in Ghana who weren't really able to do any of the tests that would let me know what the problem is, so I made an appointment for the chiropractor as soon as I got back into the States. He told me it wasn't responding like a back injury and thought I should go to the hospital, I went to a regular doctor who also said I should go to a hospital. To make a long story short, I spent 4 entire days in the hospital and still do not have a clear diagnosis of what the problem is, but do have pain pills. Unfortunate because I don't like pain medicine and I am not sure what I am going to do when they run out, but there it is.
That put a slight damper on my vacation to say the least. I arrived back in Ghana last Saturday (Jan 2) morning and had a group of 14 arrive from NYU the next day to spend the next 2 weeks volunteering with us here in Ghana. I jumped right back into an extremely busy schedule, but the group has been very nice and I think they will do a great job while here. Our study abroad Spring semester also begins on the 18th and I have 3 volunteers arriving for this on the 15th.
It's hot back here in Ghana and I am praying for cooler weather....
I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season and is ready for a great 2010.
Lots of love,
Briana
