January has passed so quickly!

Hi everyone,

I just realized this morning that I barely remember what happened to January. It's now almost over and I am faced again with how quickly time can pass when I am not paying attention. This weekend was fairly uneventful, but a little nice considering I spent it in Accra. I have been trying swimming as exercise for my back as I heard it might help with the pain I have been having. I am aiming for 3 times a week as that is really all I realistically have time for. It might be a little too early to speculate, but I think it might actually be helping. We'll see how my back does over the next few weeks. On Saturday afternoon I had a lovely lunch at the Lebanese embassy, the ambassador and his wife are very nice people and were nice enough to have me in their home for some delicious Lebanese food, which is always greatly appreciated. Sunday I just spent some time at the pool and relaxed.

Our study abroad girls are registering for their classes today and I am looking forward to seeing what will come out of this semester, I know it is going to be full of surprises and would expect nothing less in Ghana. I hope they are enjoying their first week even though it has been a bit uneventful and hopefully things pick up once we get them into their projects and classes. They will be the only volunteers here until the end of March when I have another group arriving and new individual volunteers arriving in April as well. It will definitely be a busy summer.... but for now, there is a small lull in activity.

That's about all the news from here, Ghana is a little cooler today than normal, but maybe it's just the slight overcast. Either way, I'll take what I can get. I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of 2010.
