Hi everyone,
I had my first yoga class this afternoon. I hadn't signed up for a whole month yet because I wanted to give it a shot, but I liked it. Apparently this type of yoga (which Mysore is famous for) is much more intense than Hatha yoga, which is more slow-moving. I must say, it was difficult. I am pretty flexible, but you break a pretty hard sweat doing this which I wasn't really expecting, and it feels like real EXERCISE. I mean, I am definitely more sore than I am after running. I almost made it all the way through the 2 hours but when he saw me struggling he had me wrap up a bit early since I will be doing it every day it's not a good idea to go way overboard the first, or I won't be able to move tomorrow (which might happen anyways).....
They also gave me suggestions for rooms and the yoga instructor brought me to see two of them. It was really nice of them, these rooms are both less than half what I am paying now, so my yoga and my rent will now cost less than I am paying and I will be much closer to town (in a nice location with markets and restaurants and everything nearby so I don't have to take rickshaws everywhere) and while the room doesn't have internet, there is an internet cafe a few feet from the new room and I might be able to get the owner to put internet in the rooms if that doesn't work out (but I am sure it will). So I am very happy with how today turned out.
I spent over an hour on the phone yesterday calling Cheap Tickets (the website I booked my tickets here to), they talked to British Airways, then I talked to Virgin Atlantic, all in an attempt to find out who I need to contact in order to be refunded for the ticket I had to pay twice for. Of course no one was helpful, and it is actually looking like I won't get my money back, which is ridiculous.
I can finally call the man that i really hope is going to supervise me tomorrow, he has been out of town but I was told to call tomorrow morning, hopefully we can get things moving along here!
I stopped and tried these things on the street that apparently are fried cauliflower dipped in some kind of sauce. They call them "Manchuri" or "Gopi". Absolutely delicious even though it doesn't sound it. Of course very spicy.
I have another yoga class in the morning, it starts at 6am. Wish me luck!
