Chaotic

That's one of the words many people use to describe India.  Even though I am not in one of the large cities I can say that the same still holds true for here.  This afternoon on my way home from a meeting with an NGO I am interested in including in my research my rickshaw driver hit a motorcycle.  Don't worry, I wasn't really hurt, just surprised that all they did was yell a bit, check the damage and drive away from each other, as if it were an every day occurrence.

I have been having trouble sleeping, whether it is from jetlag (I am not usually tired until the time I would be tired in Amsterdam) or all of the incredible noises that take place at night I am not sure.  As I write, it is 1:40 am.  Since about 10pm I have heard various bouts of fireworks, cows (or something similar) calling to one another- do cows do that?? And at this moment probably 10 dogs are having a loud conversation from different parts of the neighborhood.  There are also some strange birds that I have yet to see that make quite a noise, even at night.

I am seriously considering signing up for yoga classes here in Mysore.  I spend so much time alone, I think it would be nice to get some interaction with other people, as well as a little exercise.  Mysore is famous for a form of yoga called "Ashtanga".  The classes will be from 5:30 am- 7am five days a week.  For those who know me well are aware that I am definitely not a morning person, so it should be a very interesting experience trying to get out of bed so early every day.  If I pay for the classes though I definitely better show up for them!

I guess I should crawl back into bed and read a bit more in an attempt to relax myself enough for sleep.  The caretaker of the place I am staying told me this morning I need to have breakfast by 8am every morning. :)  He didn't seem happy that I stay up so late and wait so long to eat the next day... very sweet thought.
